Better to check your child's interest first, from there you can think of ways how to relieve their stress. Eventually, it will become a routine for both of you. I'm pretty sure your child would love you more for doing it for them.

Listen and show empathy. Put yourself in their shoe and try to open up with good advice. That would allow your kid to reach out more to you and eventually open up.

You may also consider enrolling your kids in some enrichment classes. I think that would make their time worthwhile learning through playing. It could be weekdays or weekends, I believe there are enrichment that facilitate smaller groups.
