As they grow older, they seem to be occupied with their own activities...what are some way/activities to improve and maintain good relationships with preteens?

1. Listen to them
2. Empower them
3. Show an interest in their interests by asking questions
4. Help them navigate life socially and emotionally
5. Allow them to make mistakes
6. Guide, but don’t control
7. Don’t broach conversations that will make them feel belittled
8. Get to know them
9. Create secure boundaries

Listen and show empathy. Put yourself in their shoe and try to open up with good advice. That would allow your kid to reach out more to you and eventually open up.
