P5 child not interested in studies

Hi guys. My son is now in P5 but he is not even worried that he can't be promoted to P6 let alone getting into a secondary school that he want.

We did limit his game time to an hour, he did adhere to the rule however he is not interested in other things too. He used to be interested in handicrafts, swimming or even playing with Lego however he is only interested in playing online games like Roblox. When doing his school work, he will tend to give an excuse saying "oh, this is not urgent, I don't have to do it by today" I need to sit beside him and accompany him to finish up the work, sometimes even providing answers for him. I know it's not very correct to do this but I have no choice.

Anyone have similar experiences?

A worried dad

Yes...similar position..

What I do is:
- Games only allowable on Fri after all homework completed, Sat and Sun
- No games 3 weeks prior to exams
- Fri, Sat and Sun limited to twice a day at 1 hr each

You can still correct during this point, tell your child these are the new rules if he wants to be able to continue playing games. There will certainly be an argument for the first time of setting this rule, but thereafter it should go smoothly.
